Zetterstrom, David K. Age 76, of Plymouth, MN. died on August 6, 2020 after a life fully lived. He was born June 29,1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Predeceased by wonderful parents Betty (Sorensen) and John Zetterstrom. Survived by loving wife Donna Marget, son Jonathan Rinehart (Minnea Lin), sisters Mary Johnson and Sue Huntington, dear friend Lucy Sovich, special cousin Babe, and many other great friends and relatives. Dave graduated from Hopkins High School and received a degree in English from the U of MN. He fell in love with traveling after spending a year of college in Oaxaca, Mexico. Over his life he traveled to Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica, and other countries. Dave served in the MN. National Guard and was an employee of Hennepin County Public Works where he met his wife of 40 years. During his many years at the county he was grateful to be working on public safety through transportation, traffic control, and entrance coordination. Dave was a kind, accepting, compassionate, and brilliant man. He was a loving husband, father, brother and son, generous with his time and always ready to lend a helping hand. Dave loved cars and by age 3 he knew the name of every car on the road. He raced in Nascar and rebuilt the engine of his 57 T-bird. He became a pacifist and found peace and amazement studying nature. He and his son loved to spot orioles, cardinals, and hawks that visited their property. Dave's passion for music, from classical symphonies to the Moody Blues, was well known, as was his love of reading. He was a lifelong student of history, loved maps and golf, and was one of the few in "book club" who actually read the book. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He added unique points of view to conversations, his laughter was infectious, and he made every gathering joyful. David passed away surrounded by love. He lives on in our hearts and memories. The family suggests memorials be sent to Plymouth Christian Youth Center (pcyc-mpls.org) in North Minneapolis or Relate Counseling Center (relate-mpls.org). There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.
