Steve passed away in his home in Bagley, Minnesota in late September, 2014, from ongoing health issues.   He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  There was no obituary.

Steve and I dated throughout most of high school.  He was one of the funniest people I've known, and also a great caretaker in his family.  He took care of his mother in her last illess, of emphysema, but ultimately suffered from this himself, because of his smoking.  I loved him, and despaired over his health issues.  The family had other issues, and he did his best to help each of them.     Meanwhile, we were teenagers, and high school students, and had a good time together.  We loved dancing, driving in his convertible, going to the prom, and figuring out how to help people.  He was smart, but didn't live up to his potential, because his family needed so much of his time.  I wept when he died.

I worked for my friend, Steve, at his bar/restaurant, Dirty Flo's, in downtown Minneapolis, along with Carole Murphy and Brian Magnusen from our class, around 1972.  The restaurant was owned by Steve, his mother, and his Aunt Flo, and was named after a similar restaurant in Chicago.  We had fun.   Steve and I have been intermittently in touch, over the years.  He was a good friend.  I will miss him.
