Age 70, died on September 30, 2014, after bravely suffering the progressive insults of dementia.  Georgie was extraordinarily kind, loving and gentle.  She devoted her life to helping her family, friends and students.  Her husband of fifty years, Steven, her two sons, Joseph (Nicole) and Matt (Melissa); her granddaughter, Sophia; her brother, David (Mary); her lifelong friend, Roberta Whiteaker (Barry); and her long-time caregiver, Jackie Trauba (Todd), all miss her very much.  Georgie’s father, George J. Dietrich, and her mother, Helen A. Dietrich, predeceased her.

She loved generously and unconditionally and was much loved in return.  She was a joy to be with, and even in her last months she could light up the day with a smile, a hug, the touch of her hand, or a joke only she could understand.  She will live in our hearts forever.

Georgie volunteered as a reading and math tutor when her children were in grade school and later worked in that capacity in the Stillwater Schools.  Later she assisted special needs students at Penn State University, and for ten years taught inmates at MCF Oak Park Heights and Lino Lakes, where she was proud to have helped many inmates earn their high school diplomas.

She loved her log cabin on the Gooseberry River, which she, her family and friends built by hand from over ninety trees they cut on the property, most of which she peeled herself with her trusty bark spud.  There will be a private service on the riverside where the family will place a memorial to a life well lived.
