Murphy, Carole A. Born in New York City, March 29, 1945, died in Minneapolis January 25, 2008. Grew up in Sioux Falls, SD and Hopkins, MN. Graduated Hopkins High School, Stanford University andUniversity of Minnesota Graduate School. Carole had a 35-year career in social services with Hennepin County. She was a person of dignity, grace, intelligence, kindness, humility and great wisdom. Carole loved travel, history and music and was a voracious reader. Loyal to her friends, she liked nothing better than preparing and sharing one of her excellent meals with them. Her friends relied on her for advice on everything from travel in France, to menu planning to punctuation and proper usage. Carole was teacher, mentor and role model to us all, and she is greatly missed. Preceded in death by mother, Aimee. Survived by husband, George Jelatis; brothers, John of Edina, and Robert (Ina Gustafsen) of Lakewood, CO. She was a second mother to her nieces and nephews. Memorial service at the Lakewood Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 9. Memorials preferred to the American Indian College Fund or Wellstone Action.
