Donald William Krieg was born in Minneapolis, MN and grew up in the Minnetonka Mills area.

Immediately after graduating from HSH, Class of 1962, Donald enlisted in the United States Navy to pursue a career in the U.S. Naval Submarine Service. Donald served on a number of nuclear attack submarines as a nuclear reactor operator.

During his service Donald was awarded numerous commendations and awards. Donald steadily earned rank ahead of his contemporaries and was selected for the Warrant Officer Program in 1972.

Helv;color:black">He is our angel and we know he watches over us each day.
Being fortunate enough; to be able to say that my father was Donald Krieg, is a badge of honor for me. I have always been his baby girl and he treated me with a comfortable compassion that made him a really "cool" dad. It is unfortunate he was taken from not only those whose lives he touched, but those who will never have a chance to know him. My whole life I knew there was something special about "my dad". He was fortunate enough to have met his oldest grandson, J.D. (my son that was 3 at the time), but has four additional grandsons that will never learn about his love of the Navy, or stories of his youth from his voice. He now has his first great grandchild on the way it's tough knowing he will be missing out physically, but knowing that his spirit is always with us is what keeps us going.I love and miss you dad,
