Bill was drafted into the Army after high school and was stationed in Germany when he sent for me. We lived in Darmstadt and were engaged for a while, but eventually went our separate ways.  I moved to Italy and Bill came home. He was married for a while to Janet Lerohl (Hopkins '63).  They divorced and he later married Rebecca Donicht, with whom he had a son, Orion, now a musician living in Alaska.  Bill continued to play music throughout his life and was a beloved fixture on the West Bank.  He was closely allied for many years with Dave "Snaker" Ray (of Koerner, Ray & Glover, the trio who recorded John Lennon's favorite album, "Blues Rags & Hollers"), but played with many bands and musicians.  He was an artist, a poet, a singer/songwriter, a musicologist and above all, a guitar player. He died in March of 1998 after a long illness.

People on the West Bank called him Will Donicht. He didn't graduate with us, I think his family moved before senior year. Will was a dedicated rock and roll guitar player, singer, band leader, and he was good. He was married to one of the members of the New Riverside Cafe Cooperative, Janet Donicht, and they remained good friends after the divorce. He always had a big hello for everyone and was well-liked.
